WOULD YOU RATHER LIVE BY THE BEACH, NEAR THE MOUNTAINS, OR IN THE CITY?
I was introduced to backpacking at an early age and am lucky enough to have the SoCal mountains and Sierra Nevadas nearby, so I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the mountains and would prefer to live there. Early on, I learned mountains can separate the men from the boys. As an example, we got snowed on in the Sierras this past July! The powerful majesty of the mountains wakes me up better than a cup of coffee.
DO YOU PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT?
I’ve played guitar since I was about 10 years old. I don’t play so much anymore, but I enjoy fast styles, whether it be flamenco on my classical guitar, folky stuff on my steel string, or blues on my electric.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
The best part of my job is the opportunity to meet challenges and solve problems that occur on an almost daily basis. Whether it be in the form of a technical problem never faced before or a seemingly unattainable scheduling commitment, there is more often than not a challenge or problem ready to be faced or fixed every day.
WHO IS/WAS YOUR MENTOR?
My mentor is my father. Having been raised in New England, he is as tough, confident, and self-motivated as they come while possessing a big heart and generosity almost to a fault.
