Wishing You a Wonderful Holiday!

The holiday season is full of traditions in the Petros household. On Christmas Eve, we take a Polish dinner over to my mother’s home and share the holiday with a uniquely eastern accent. Early on Christmas morning, I sneak out and get in the ocean for a quick swim around the buoys. Then, it’s time to brew the first pot of coffee and open presents with the family. We have a tradition of presents in stacked boxes 8 feet high, from a large parcel box to a small jewelry box. We have used the stacked boxes since our daughters were very little girls. Traditions make the holiday familiar and charming.

Then, when it is all over, when the last dinner dish has been washed and dried, when the Christmas tree lights are turned off and the bed is turned down, I reflect with a sense of gratitude. As a heart attack survivor, I am grateful to have another day. I am grateful for time shared with family and friends. I am grateful for over 3 decades with my wife, Kristen. My daughters give me a sense of pride and affection. I am grateful for the day that I walked into LSA Newport Beach, marched into Les Card’s office and asked for a job—my home, my relationships, and my security all stem from that simple act.

As you prepare for the holidays, I am hopeful you will share traditions with family and loved ones. Look forward to hearty laughter and 10-second-too-long hugs. And maybe look away when your uncle grabs a second (or third) piece of pie! Sing songs, eat well, and enjoy your favorite drink. Love one another and find at least one thing to be grateful for.

By the way, I am also grateful for you! Thank you for making 2023 a wonderful year. Thank you for sharing with me. Thank you for all your hard work, creativity, and innovation.

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays! Can’t wait for 2024!
