State Route 74 Lower Ortega Highway Widening

LSA’s remediation specialists managed the Section 508 compliance effort for the Draft Initial Study/‌Environmental Assessment and all technical reports prepared for the State Route 74 Lower Ortega Highway Widening Project. The remediation effort involved several challenges, including an accelerated schedule and documents in older file formats not originally designed with accessibility in mind. Content types varied widely, ranging from basic text files to forms, complex tables, and multilayer graphics. All documents were checked with both PAC 3 accessibility testing software and a screen reader to ensure they met Level AA WCAG 2.1 and PDF/UA compliance standards, and all the submitted documents seamlessly passed the client’s QA/QC check.
